Keegan-Michael Key is Comedy's MVP
Also: Jordan Klepper, Desi Lydic, Stephen Colbert, and Tommy Brennan
Happy Belated Valentine’s Day! I’m Geoff Plitt, and welcome to What You Need to Know, the brief, weekly newsletter where I share the best comedy videos I’ve seen all week. It will always be free, and you’re welcome to become a friend by following me on Twitter, Threads, Instagram, or TikTok, where I share my own jokes every week.
First, I have a quick poll, just to see who’s actually reading. And this will help me serve you with future content!
And now, the videos you came for:
Keegan-Michael Key is an absolute powerhouse of comedy. He was on Fallon recently and showed off his impressions and characters, like President Obama and Toad, talking about Super Bowl LVIII:
One of my old Chicago improv friends, Jordan Klepper, is now hosting The Daily Show (sometimes), and he’s great! I thought this piece he did with Desi Lydic about the Border crisis was incredibly good satire. Jon Stewart is also back (Mondays only) and the show has a special buzz.
Stephen Colbert interviewed director Christopher Nolan recently, and the whole interview is worth watching. Here’s a fun Oppenheimer sketch they did together to introduce the interview:
I had Tommy Brennan on my show Totally a few times recently and he’s always great. Check out his Comedy Central set that came out recently. Tommy shares how New York makes him feel uncool, why it’s impossible to love all eight of your kids and the certain situation that causes him to defend Joe Biden:
Thanks for reading! Have a great weekend.
