Late Night Covers the Mar-a-Lago Raid
Including: Stephen Colbert, Rob McElhenney, and Nikki Glaser
Happy National Presidential Joke Day! Hello, I’m Geoff Plitt, and welcome to What You Need to Know, the brief, weekly newsletter where I share the best comedy videos I’ve seen all week. It will always be free, and you’re welcome to become a friend by following me on Twitter, Instagram, or TikTok, where I share my own jokes every day.
And now, the funny videos you came for:
Like him or not, the political joke writing on Stephen Colbert’s show is top-notch. It’s not every day a president gets raided by the FBI, and Stephen was in rare form to cover it:
I am a huge fan of Alway Sunny in Philadelphia; I’ve watched every episode and highly recommend it (start with the “Who Pooped the Bed” episode if you aren’t familiar). Creator/star/showrunner Rob McElhenney sometimes ventures into other formats, and recently got to guest-host Kimmel’s show. I think he did great:
It must be Nikki Glaser week (month?) around here because I’m featuring her twice. I’ve performed with her a few times and she’s a delight. Here’s a new reel from Comedy Central where you can get to know her from eight of her best bits:
More Nikki for ya. Here’s her entire special “Perfect”, now on YouTube from Comedy Central:
And that’s all she wrote. See you next week.
- Geoff
